  • First Aid for Hazardous Marine Life Injuries

First Aid for Hazardous Marine Life Injuries

Whenever someone enters the ocean, whether they are scuba diving, snorkeling, surfing, swimming, or wading, there is a chance of an encounter with hazardous marine life. In southern California, we have stingrays, scorpionfish, stinging hydroids, jellyfish, sea urchins, reefs that can cut and scrape, and other minor hazards. In this course, you will learn how to respond to injuries caused by hazardous marine life worldwide. You will learn how to recognize and respond to shock, allergic reactions, seafood-related illnesses, and envenomations. You will also learn how to manage external bleeding and handle traumatic injuries. Finally, you will learn how to avoid marine life injuries from species both local and worldwide.
